Cheddar Festive Night 2007

Festive Night - Friday 7th December 2007 Annual pre-Christmas shopping event:

Shops, cafes and pubs open late throughout Cheddar. Spectacular illuminations and Christmas trees in the Village and Gorge. Music, stalls and amusements in the streets and at Cliff Street Car Park.

This year's Guest of Honour will be The Reverend Victor Daley.

The evening begins with carols in St Andrews Church , while the whoppa rocket goes up from the tower at 6.00pm, followed by church bells.

The Big Prize Tombola will be held in Cliff Street Car Park. Bring the voucher from your Mid-Somerset paper to the car park from 6.00pm (no photocopies accepted) or make a donation on the spot.  Lots of amazing prizes donated by Cheddar Traders, including a Budgens Trolley Dash. No purchase necessary, draw organised by Cheddar Parish Council. The tombola will run until all prizes have gone.

Cliff Street will be closed to traffic between the Car Park and Redcliffe Street for your greater enjoyment.

New for 2007: Best Festive Illuminations "Cheddar Christmas Lights Competition". A competition is to be held this year for the best Christmas lights in the Village. The competition is open to all residents living within the Village of Cheddar and a perpetual Challenge Cup donated by the Roatary Club of Mendip will be awarded for the residential property judged to be the best externally decorated and illuminated. Entry forms can be found at several Village shops or are available at the Parish Hall. Nominations close at 4pm on Friday 30th November 2007. The cup will be presented on Festive Night, at 7.30pm in Cliff Street Car Park
